Evelyn McNeill, a former long-time resident of the Los Alamos area, passed away quickly and peacefully on the evening of October 10, 2019, at the age of 90. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Helen Goldstein and husband Freddie. She is survived by her three daughters Karen Huegel, Denise McNeill, and Lori Dill; 2 son-in-laws; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; as well as countless loved ones and friends who affectionately knew her as “Grandma.”
Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1928, Evelyn remained a proud New Yorker throughout her life. She lived with a fearless spirit and feisty attitude, exemplifying kindness and generosity to everyone she met. Evelyn lived out a true example of “actions speak louder than words” with her unspoken way of extending love, genuine concern, and compassion to everyone. Her “whateva” mindset and stubborn will allowed her to overcome any obstacle she set her mind to. She was an inspiration and left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested donations be made in Evelyn’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Animal Humane Society. Evelyn “Gramma” will be greatly missed, and her memory will be cherished in our hearts forever.
