Feliberto "Phil" Martinez

Feliberto "Phil" Martinez, age 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 21, 2019.  He was born in Alcalde, NM on November 28, 1932 to Ramon and Onofre Martinez.  He graduated from Highlands University with a Bachelor in Education and received his Master’s Degree in School Administration from the University of New Mexico.  Phil served in the US Navy as a Corporal for 4 years during the Korean War.  He worked as a teacher and principal and retired from Pojoaque High School as the Assistant Superintendent.  Phil served on the McCurdy and Espanola School Boards, the Espanola City Council and as a Regent at Northern New Mexico College; and was a radio announcer for several Spanish radio stations throughout New Mexico and was a long time parishioner at Holy Cross Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Martinez; brother, Gilbert Martinez; sister, Sally Vigil; nephews, Arthur Martinez Jr. and Richard Martinez.

Phil is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mabel Martinez; daughters, Lynore Martinez (Michael Patrick), Carmela Martin (David Martin), Kathie Serna; and his precious grandchildren, Mark, Megan, Katie, Chris, Matthew, Ty, Jeffrey.  Also surviving are his sisters, Felipa Romero, Flora Maestas, Evangeline Salazar; brother, Arthur Martinez; and many nieces, nephews, whom he loved dearly, and other loving relatives and friends.  Phil will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be Tuesday, august 27, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at San Ysidro Catholic Church, 5015 Corrales Rd., Corrales, NM 87048, where a Rosary will be recited  at 10:00 a.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m.   Interment will take place on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 9:45 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
