Felicita "Phyllis" Barela

Felicita �Phyllis� Barela, age 78, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday May 20, 2014, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 19, 1935 in Alameda, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, Able Apodaca and Santana Sandoval. Phyllis is survived by her husband of 60 years on July 17th Mariano Barela; son, Manny O. Barela; daughters and (son-in-laws) Bernadette (Joseph) Gonzales, Geraldine (Modesto) Barela-Martinez, Debbie Pe�a (Martin), Marianne P. (Curtis) Valdez; eleven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Tommie Wharton, Cora (RC) Dodson, Gloria Garcia, Viola Martinez; brother, Lawrence Apodaca; and other numerous loving relatives and friends. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 Fourth St., NW. Service of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. also at the Church. Interment will be on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joshua Barela, Stephen Trujillo, Juan Jr. Venegas, Andrew Pe�a, Brandon and Jordan Valdez. Honorary Bearer will be Juan Venegas. TO THOSE I LOVE AND THOSE WHO LOVE ME When I am gone, release me, let me go I have so many things to see and do. You mustn�t tie yourself to me with tears, Be happy that we had so many years. I gave you my love, you can only guess, How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now it�s time I traveled on alone. So grieve awhile, for if grieve you must Then let your grieve be comforted by trust. It�s only for a while we must part So bless the memories within your heart. I won�t be far away, for life goes on So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can�t see or touch me, I�ll be near, And if you listen with your heart, you�ll hear All of my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I�ll greet you with a smile, and say, �Welcome Home�.
