Baca, Fidel  Sr.
Age 67, passed away Friday, January 8, 2016 at his home in Socorro, NM. He was born in Socorro on March 11, 1948, to Severo and Josefita Torres Baca. Fidel was a man of great faith. Music was his passion and he played for many functions around the Socorro area and was a member of the San Miguel Church choir. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved to watch cowboy movies and church masses on TV. Fidel was a devoted family man and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was always taking in stray animals. Fidel retired from the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District in 2009 after 33 years of service. Fidel will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; his parents; sisters, Carlotita Baca, Odelia Baca, and Lucille Candaleria; and brother, Severito Baca.  Fidel is survived by his children, Fidel Baca Jr., Belinda (Edward) Gordon, Jerrie (Manuel L.) Romero, Manuel S. Baca, and Severito (Alexandria) Baca; sisters, Jenny Lucero, Florie Baca, Mary Lou Cervantes, Josephine Rivera, and Lillie Caraveo; grandchildren, Renee' Montano, Fidel M. Baca III, Evan Baca, Austin Gordon, Shane J. Thomas, Manuel E.J. Romero, Eric Thomas, Devin Fuller, Manuel Baca Jr., Adrianna Baca, Markeisha Lopez, Alissa Baca, Joshua Baca, Joslin Baca, and Mariah Baca; great grandchildren, Destiny Mascarenas and Julian Mascarenas; and his dog, Snooky.  The Holy Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 7:00 pm at the San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro. A Communion Service will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 10:00 am at San Miguel with Deacon Mike Ybarra officiating.  Burial will take place following the service at the Magdalena Cemetery.
