Filiberto "Sonny" Martinez

Age 81, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018. He was born in Fairview, NM on August 22, 1936, to Miguel and Rufina Martinez. 

Filiberto graduated from Santa Cruz High School. He then joined the Army National Guard. Filiberto worked as a Journeyman in Drywall for 50 years. He was an avid walker, loved to travel and work on his yard. He enjoyed going out to eat especially going to the casino. Filiberto was an usher and church member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Miguel and Rufina Martinez; daughter, Patricia Padilla; and sister, Mercedes Rael.

Filiberto is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia Martinez; children, Filbert (Nancy) Martinez, Debra (Gregory) Jackson, Elizabeth Martinez, Monica Martinez, and son-in-law Jessie Padilla; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. 

Visitation will take place Tuesday, July 24, 2018, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Southern Chapel, 2400 Southern Blvd SE, Rio Rancho.

Rosary to be recited on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd SE, Rio Rancho with Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m.                            
     
Burial will take place at Vista Verde Memorial Park  following service.
 
Reception will take place at Rio Rancho Inn at 1:00 p.m. 

The Martinez family want to thank you all for your love and support "Much Love!"

Filiberto will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a very loving man.
