Florence Cecilia Lucero, affectionately known as "Cecy," was born on October 5, 1923, in El Paso, Texas, to parents James Luna and Carmen Luna, and left us peacefully on her 101st birthday, October 5, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her life spanned a century filled with love, art, and devotion, leaving a lasting imprint on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Cecy dedicated many years to her career before retiring, entering a new chapter where she embraced her passions with fervor. Art was a significant part of her life; she found joy in still life oil painting, capturing the beauty of everyday objects on canvas. Music also played a vital role in her world, as she reveled in the melodies of all genres, allowing the rhythm to be a soundtrack to her cherished moments.
A proud member of Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church, Cecy’s faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life’s ups and downs. She fostered deep connections with her community, always extending a warm smile and kind words to those around her.
Cecy shared a beautiful marriage of 31 years with her beloved husband, Orlando "JR" Lucero together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, creating a nurturing environment for their family. She is preceded in death by her son, James Lucero, and her cherished grandson, Roy Venaglia III. She is survived by Dan Lucero and her daughters, Lynda Venaglia and Diana Lucero, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Her beloved pets, Milo and Lilbitz, were also an integral part of her life, bringing her comfort and companionship.
Cecy's passing marks the end of an era, but her spirit continues to live on through the memories cherished by those she touched. Her kindness, creativity, and unwavering faith will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
A visitation and Rosary will be held on October 24, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Wyoming Chapel and a Mass to celebrate her life will take place the following day, October 25, 2024, at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church at 10:00 AM.
As we remember Florence Cecilia Lucero, we hold dear the legacy of a remarkable woman whose kindness and artistry enriched our lives. She may have departed from this world, but her love will remain with us forever.
