Florence H. Williams, 79, of Farmington, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2010 in Farmington, after a long battle with cancer. She was born January 4, 1931 in Gattman, Miss. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband Wade, for 50 years prior to his passing. Flo spent her life as a homemaker and a loving Mom to her three children. She was a person of innate, refined gentleness. Graciousness was a quality she always exhibited as she was steeped in the traditions of the Deep South during her youth. Most importantly, Mom was the Hearth where we warmed our hearts and the center of love in our home. The following excerpts from the Book of Proverbs characterize Flo and it is fitting that we remember her with them: “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.”
“Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.”
“Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” Proverbs 31:10, 25, 28. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Williams; parents, Isiah and Virgie Hollis; brother, Carl Hollis; and sister, Eunice Mitchell. She is survived by her son, Robert Williams and wife, Kristy, of Farmington; daughters, Brenda Williams of Hoover, Ala., and Debra Thompson of Farmington; brothers, Harold Hollis and James Allen Hollis; sisters, Hazel Wheeler, Marie Hill and Mary Helen Alexander, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
