Gooding, Floyd Latham 87, of Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of Kankakee and Kempton, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 at his home. Mr. Gooding retired from Egan Buick after 42 years of service. He was born May 13, 1925, in Kankakee, the son of John Cecil and Frances Julia Latham Gooding. His wife, the former Margaret �Peg� Davis, whom he married June 12, 1945, at St. Mary�s Rectory, Staten Island, N.Y., preceded him in death March 6, 2010. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II on Troop Transports in the Pacific. He was a lifetime Eagle Scout, a Lone Scout from Kempton, and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was a former scoutmaster and was awarded the Scouters Key. He enjoyed camping, RVing, traveling and spending time with his family. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Pete and Mary Gooding, of Bradley, Michael and Rena Gooding, of San Jose, Calif., and Chris and Jackie Gooding, of Albuquerque; one daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Randy Bailey, of Rainier, Ore.; 12 grandchildren, Brian (Trina) Gooding, Melissa (Reggie) Gilbert, Elizabeth {D�Martin Shegog) Gooding, Amanda (Doug) Evans, Tom (Jennifer) Gooding, Paul (Michelle) Gooding, James (Elyssa) Gooding, Steve Gooding, Sarah (Jamie) Sharp, Nicole Bailey , Ben Gooding and Katie Gooding; 11 great-grandchildren, Aidan, Taylor and Ethan Gilbert, Alexis Saffer, Draven Gooding, Autumn and Ryan Gooding, Elaina and David Gooding, Sean and Ashleigh Evans; one sister, Mary Mercier of Carlock; and several nieces and nephews, including Deb Gooding of St. Louis. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Dorene Gooding; one brother, Todd (Iva) Gooding; one granddaughter, Susan Gooding; one grandson, Phillip Bailey; two brothers-in-law, Jack (Gerri) Davis and Burt Mercier; and three sisters-in-law, Mary Francis, Florence Davis and Dorothy Conway. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held in Kankakee at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer�s Association.
