Frances Beth Babineaux

December 12, 1935 — May 10, 2017

Babineaux, Clark Beth

Frances Beth Clark Babineaux, 81, passed away peacefully in Albuquerque on May 10, 2017, after a brave nine-year battle with COPD, surrounded by many of her loving family members. Beth, as she was known by friends, was born in 1935 and grew up in Williams, Arizona. She attended local Williams’ schools, was a Girl Scout, participated in Arizona Girls State, and was Salutatorian with the Williams High School graduating class of 1954. She was also proud to be the Coconino County Spelling Bee Champion in the eighth grade, was an avid skier, and, in high school, was the only girl in the Rifle Club.
She attended the University of Arizona, was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and graduated in 1958 with a BA in Education. She married Larry Babineaux on May 31, 1958, and spent 20 years as a dedicated US Air Force wife, living in several US locales, in Alberta and Ontario, Canada, and in Brussels, Belgium. She moved to Albuquerque in 1979 after Larry’s military retirement and spent the rest of her life in Albuquerque.
Beth was a very quick-witted and caring homemaker who dedicated her life to her family and a variety of volunteer causes. She served on the vestry at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church (now St. Mary’s), and was on the St. Aidan’s Altar Guild. She was also the Director of the St. Chad’s Episcopal Church Altar Guild, was an usher and was active in myriad St. Chad’s Outreach activities. She was a volunteer for several years with the St. Martin’s Hospitality Center and with the US Air Force Family Services Center and was a Cub Scout den mother and an enthusiastic Soccer Mom. She also spent many years as a volunteer reading tutor, helping young people with reading difficulties.
She is survived by her spouse Larry, three sons: Jim (Lisa), Greg, and John (Starlit), and six grandchildren: Thayer (Josh), Janae, Ty, Nicolas, Gregory, and Aidan. She is also survived by her brother, Joe Clark (Deede) of Flagstaff, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her father, James R. Clark, and her mother, Frances Ellaby Clark.
The family is especially grateful to all the Tower 2 second floor staff at the Rust Medical Center and the hospital chaplain.  There are too many staff members to mention individually  but they were wonderful to Beth and a great support to her anxious family.

There will be a Celebration of Life service for Beth at St. Chad’s on May 20 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the St. Chad’s Foundation, 7171 Tennyson Street NE or the charity of your choice.
