Padilla, Frances
Age 97, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017. When Frances was just nine months old her parents, Lionisio and Juana Santiago came to America along with several brothers and sisters. Her parents purchased a home that is located on Garfield SE in Albuquerque. Frances lived on Garfield for 97 years. Her husband, Ernest said he felt like the president coming down the street because Frances would drive and he would wave to everyone. She worked at the Exelcelsor laundry, where she was introduced to her husband, Ernest Padilla. Her husband enlisted in the army and took a leave of absence to come back and marry Frances. She bought a house and continued to work and saved enough money to furnish the house so her husband would have his home when he returned. She became a U.S. citizen on June 27, 1987 at the age of 68. She was a school lunch lady and worked as a foster grandparent throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Ernest M. Padilla.
Frances is survived by her daughters, Irene Gentry and husband, David, Christine Payne; grandchildren, Raymond Castillo, David Allen Castillo, Geraldine, Ernie Nieto, Jeff Nieto, Michael Nieto; great grandchildren,Natasha, Ray Ray, Jesse Nieto, James Nieto, Mandy, Scott, Heather, Ernest, MAria, Edgar, Soila, Anthony, Jose, Neveah-rae, Jayla, Ray.
A Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 am on Friday, October 20, 2017 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 820 Broadway Blvd SE, with a Rosary to be recited at 10:00 am followed by a Mass at 10:30 am. Interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Ernie, Nieto, Jeff Nieto, Mike Nieto, Manuel Sanchez, Billy Sanchez and Baron Abrums.
