Frances Senn was born Frances Juanita Eppele on August 5, 1926  to Maria Juanita Taylor Romero and Francis Joseph Eppele. Since Frances remained the only child, her father, Francis showered her with gifts of candy, flowers, toys and much more. She loved him with all her heart. Frances attended Mt. Carmel Catholic School for five years and then went to public schools. Frances became active in many things including; sports, tumbling class, glee club, marching band and orchestra. She was also a cheerleader for the Warriors. Frances graduated from Socorro High School in 1946. She was very young when the great depression hit, but her dad and mom raised chickens, turkeys and vegetables. They also traded with neighbors for beef and other goods. When she was a teenager, she was a "soda jerk" at the Socorro Drug Store across from the plaza. It was there that she met her husband to be. He would come in the drugstore and order a thin malt of chocolate phosphate. Raymond L. Senn was a student at New Mexico School of Mines to be a mining engineer on the G.I. Bill. He was a veteran of World War II and drove a huge Packard convertible. So when several of the male students asked Frances to prom, she wouldn't go with anyone but Ray Senn. By Christmas 1946, he asked her parents permission for her hand in marriage. They married on June 12, 1947 under one condition; that he would agree to raise their children catholic. After traveling to St. Louis to meet Ray's family, the newlyweds returned to Socorro to live in the married housing units at the School of Mines. They had six children; five boys and one girl. Volunteering was a big part of Frances's life. She had two lifetime memberships, one with Beta Sigma Phi ( International organizer for 55 years) and with The Girl Scouts of America. She was an active member of the Republican Party, member of the San Miguel Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America as grand regent, a tour guide on the board for the Hammel Museum of Socorro Historical Society and the Socorro General Hospital Auxiliary. In 1985 she went to her first senior Olympics as a bowler and won gold, silver and bronze medals and she qualified for three National Olympics. In St. Louis she won a bronze medal in mixed doubles. In the past she has been involved with the Socorro Extension Auxiliary, Socorro Senior Citizens, the Thrift Store and she served seven years on the NM State area of Aging. Religion had been with Frances all her life. While growing up in the Catholic School she would say prayers every morning and went to vespers with her grandmother in the evenings. She was always told to first know yourself, be honest at all times, tell the truth, and treat others as you would like to be treated. She has passed and will pass this way of life on to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be loved and missed by all who know and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, Raymond L. Senn. Frances is survived by daughter, Cynthia S. (Cindi) Senn; sons,  Stephen T. (Shirley) Senn, Samuel J. (Jane) Senn, Randy B. (Priscilla) Senn, David M. (Kerry) Senn and Russell S. Senn; grandchildren, Rachel Senn-Sullivan, Victoria Trujillo, Matthew T. (Claire) Senn, Anne C. Senn, Raymond S. Senn, Christopher M. Senn,  Amanda J. (Chris) Stockbridge, Bryan A. Senn, and Jennifer Senn; great-grandchildren, Audrey Griego, Love P. Trujillo-Murphy and Xavier Senn-DeCottle. The Holy Rosary to be recited on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 8:30 am with Mass of Resurrection to follow at 9:00 am at San Miguel Catholic Church, 409 El Camino Real, Socorro. Celebrant Father John Anasiudu.  Burial will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers will be Stephen T. Senn, Randy B. Senn, David M. Senn, Russell S. Senn, Raymond Senn and Roy Fellion. In lieu of flowers donations may be given in Frances's honor to the choir at San Miguel Church.
