Frank left this earth peacefully on March 19, 2017. He was born on March 12, 1928 the third child of 6 siblings to Maria Bayardo Garcia and Jose Garcia. He came to the US in 1960 and became a citizen 3 years later in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Frank married his wife Marilou Smolders on April 1, 1960 at the church of the Medeleine in Paris, France. He was a watchmaker and owned the South Valley Watch Shop for several years until his retirement in 1990. Frank and Marilou didn't have children and traveled extensively during their lifetime, going several times to Europe where they vacationed in Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Greece. They also lived in Spain's Costa Blanca in 1990 before returning to Albuquerque. Frank also visited China, Australia, New Zealand and went twice to South America, first to Argentina and Uruguay and then to Chile and Peru. Frank's favorite vacations were cruises and he sailed to Hawaii, Alaska, the Caribbean Island, and the Panama Canal once in each direction. His favorite, a 23-day cruise was to North Africa, Turkey, Morocco, the Azores, Madeira and Canaries Islands. His last cruise, a 14 day cruise from Los Angeles to Alaska was Frank's 26th cruise.
A rosary will be recited on Wednesday March 22, 2017 at 11:00am, at the Daniels Family Funeral Home’s chapel, 7601 Wyoming Blvd, NE.
Burial services will follow at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in the family plot.
