Morgan, Frank Byron Jr. age 70, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior and join his parents on Sunday, January 20, 2013. At the time of his death Frank was living in Albuquerque, NM. Frank was born on October 18, 1942 at Coker Hospital in Canton, Georgia. His parents were Frank B. Morgan, Sr. of Canton, GA and Hazel Earlene Jones Morgan, originally of Houston County, GA. Frank grew up in Macon, GA and attended Alexander II elementary school and Lanier Jr. and Senior High School for Boys in Macon. After high school Frank attended North Georgia College and graduated in 1964 where he received a BS in mathematics and received a reserve commission in the United States Army. He began active duty in August 1964 and served as a Communications Intelligence Officer. His many Army assignments included Ft. Devens, MA, Ft. Richardson, AK and Ft, Meade, MD. Prior to his last assignment at Ft. Meade, Frank served as a Capt. in Saigon during the Vietnam War. Frank was honorable discharged from the Army in February 1972, and soon thereafter began working for the Department of Education (DOE) in Washington, DC as a computer scientist. Frank was a faithful member of the choir at University United Methodist Church in College Park, MD where he worshipped until he retired from the DOE. Frank was soft spoken, but was very intelligent and had a keen wit. All who knew him loved him dearly. Frank is predeceased by his parents, several aunts and uncles, and his beloved cat, Tammie. He is survived by his brother Dr. Felix Morgan and his sister-in-law The Rev. Ruth Morgan, both of Albuquerque, nieces Laira Magnuson of Albuquerque and Elise Jones of Orlando FL, aunts Mrs. Polly Gladin of Tennille GA & Mrs. Jane Hendrix of Canton, GA other cousins, grand-nieces & nephews, and many friends from his former job at the DOE and his church and from his former residences in Greenbelt MD. A memorial service will be held at Hope in Desert Episcopal Church in Albuquerque at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2013. A funeral and internment will take place at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his parents. Services in Macon will be on January 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. and Macon Memorial Park Cemetery will be in charge of arrangements in Macon. In lieu of flowers Frank would have appreciated donations to Alley Cats Rescue, Inc. of Mount Ranier, MD, the Humane Society of the U.S., and the Alzheimers Foundation of America.
