Frank N. Moyer

Moyer, Frank N. Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.) After a long and full life, Frank went home to be with the Lord on January 10, 2012. Born on Christmas Eve, 1922, Frank was raised in York, Nebraska. While attending the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, he met his life long love and mate, Judith A. Hughes. They were married for sixty one plus years and had four daughters. He had a career with the USAF, flying 181 combat missions in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He received the Silver Star for Gallantry in Action and three Distinguished Flying Crosses for heroism and for extraordinary achievement in aerial flight. After retiring, he completed his BA from UN Omaha and the family moved to ALbuquerque in 1971. Frank then began substitute teaching in math and science for APS; a career he enjoyed for over thirteen years. Upon retiring Frank and Judith enjoyed traveling, especially to visit their extended family and friends all over the country. In the later years of his life, he continued to travel with his daughters. Frank always enjoyed regaling friends with his shaggy dog stories and tales of his many adventures in life. He taught his daughters an appreciation of music and literature, things they all enjoy to this day. Frank had an abiding love of the Lord, teaching Bible classes to young adults and married couples through the eighty's. He is survived by three daughters; Linda (Lynn) Gettemy, Wendy (Terry) O'Brien and Leslie (Mark) Schillinger; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons. He is preceded in death by his beloved Judith and daughter Deborah. The family and close friends celebrated his life at the NM Veterans Memorial with Military Honors on January 13, 2012.
