Fred Bernson (1946–2023)

Fred Bernson, 77, of Corrales, NM passed away on December 30, 2023. Fred was born in Ludington, MI to John and Lyla Bernson. He attended Ludington HS and graduated from the University of Oregon in 1968 and was a proud member of Sigma Xi. He started his banking career at the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago and then rose to President of Avenue Bank (Oak Park, IL) and Sunrise Bank (Albuquerque, NM) before working in SBA lending and commercial real estate, most recently with BMC Capital. Fred was an emeritus member of Albuquerque Sales & Economic Growth Association (ASEGA) and is also known as a loyal volleyball fan of his daughters and granddaughter. He is survived by his wife Jan, his children Sarah and Nora, and a granddaughter Ella.

The memorial service will be held at Daniels Family Sara Road Chapel in Rio Rancho on February 23rd at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bernalillo County Animal Center, where he adopted his beloved dogs Martin and Benz.
