Fred "Freddie" Medina Sr.

MSGT. Fred R. Medina Sr., age 78, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on July3, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Fred was preceded in death by his daughter Shelly Medina, his parents Robert and Leonila Medina, grandparents Cevero and Amada Gonzales, Alfredo and Juanita Medina.

Fred is survived by his wife of 57 years Rosetta M. Medina, daughter Nadine Cross (Jim), son Fred Medina Jr. (Lori), four grandchildren Sean Morgan (Amanda), Justin Morgan, Nathan Medina, Alyssa Harrington (Andrew), two great grandchildren Cecilia and Urijah Morgan, four sisters Kristi (Lonnie) Medina (Larry Stotts), Nancy Noyola (Oswaldo), Eileen Gaspard (Frank), Cindy Pejka (Greg), three brothers Dannie Medina (Marcella), Robert Medina (Sally), Gino Medina (Nancy) and extended family members.

Fred was born September 14, 1938 in Alamosa, Colorado. He attended and graduated from Alamosa schools. Following graduation he enlisted in USAF. Fred proudly served wherever he was stationed. He served in Vietnam earning Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, First through Third Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal. Following military retirement he attended and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Personnel Management from Eastern Washington University, Cheney, WA. He was employed by NCUA and State of New Mexico Tax Revenue as Credit Union Examiner.

A Graveside Memorial will be held in Rio Rancho on Thursday, September 14th, 10:00 am at Vista Verde Cemetery. A reception to follow at Daniels Family Funeral Services Southern Chapel, 2400 Southern Blvd., Rio Rancho, NM.
