Freda Mildred Dye

DYE- Freda Mildred Chastain Dye, 89, passed to the Lord on January 3, 2011. She is survived by her sons, Edward Dye and wife Millie, Neal Dye and wife Jan, all of La Veta, CO, Albert Dye and wife Brenda of Santa Fe, NM, Jeffrey of Rio Rancho, NM; her daughters, Kathy Dodson and husband Lee, Karen Zimmermann, all of Greeley, CO; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rueben H. Dye, sons, Herbert Dye, Rueben Dye, Jr.; granddaughter, Sharla Dye Ivy. Freda was born to Fred and Nellie Chastain of La Veta, CO on March 23, 1921. Freda was a long time resident of Espanola, NM. She was also a foster grandmother for teenage boys at Jemez House in Alcalde, NM. Freda was a loving and kind mother and grandmother; she especially loved her yearly Birthday parties with her family. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 7, 2011 at Mountain View Baptist Church, 707 South Main Street, La Veta, CO 719-742-3549. Interment will immediately follow the services at La Veta Cemetery, 300 East Grand, La Veta, CO 800-747-2692. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, 5901 Harper Drive NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109, 505-823-8060.
