Freida R. (Brooks) Clairmont, age 95, passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family, December 13, 2013. She was born July 6, 1918 in Schodack Landing, NY to Junius and Hedwig (Weinhold) Brooks. She was predeceased by her husband Louis A. Clairmont Sr. and her sister, Rosamond (Brooks) Ireland. She is survived by her five children: Louis A. Clairmont Jr. (Debby) of Kansas City, MO, Jeanne M. Ralicki (Chuck) of Watertown, CT, Judith A. Rodgers (Joseph) of Schwenksville, PA, Joseph A. Clairmont (Diane) of Jacksonville, FL and Roberta L. Snediker (Tad) of Rio Rancho, NM; her 11 grandchildren: Jason Ralicki, Charene (Ralicki) Westerfield (Mark), Joseph and Jacob Rodgers, Joseph (Amy), Jeffery (Andrea) and Philip (Kristin) Clairmont, Rebecca, Kathryn, Samuel Snediker, and Sarah (Snediker) Olguin (Anthony); her 5 great-grandchildren: Duncan Ralicki, Talon, Wesley, Kaitlynne and Tristan Clairmont as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends and family in the U.S., Canada, and Germany. Freida was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and Comptometer School in Schenectady, NY. She thereby became one of the early data processing experts. She was an employee of ITC (Sealtest), International GE and American Locomotive in Schenectady NY. After her marriage, she devoted her time to raising her family. When GE transferred Louis Sr. to PA, she continued raising her family until she returned to the workforce at age 69, as an office clerk, with Genuardi Supermarkets in Norristown, PA, where she retired at age 85. She owned the first refrigerator on her street. She saw the invention of color TV, computers, cell phones, and many other things that we take for granted. She was born at the end of WWI, lived through WWII, Korea, Vietnam, the Cold War, the Gulf War, Iraq, and Afghanistan. She saw the first man land on the moon, the assassination of JFK, watched the Berlin Wall fall, the fall of the U.S.S.R.. Her hobbies included knitting, horseback riding, bowling, gardening, sewing, camping, traveling and sailing. Freida lived in Fairview Village, PA from 1956 to 2011. She was a founding member of Visitation B.V.M. Church in Trooper PA. She was a member of the Fairview Village Assembly and Board/Delegate member of To Live Again (Widow/Widower�s Support Group) in southeastern PA. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and an active member of the Girl Scouts of the USA. After she retired, Freida paid long visits to each of her children and was currently making her home in Rio Rancho, NM with her daughter Roberta. Her family will schedule a Mass of Christian Burial at Visitation B.V.M. Catholic Church in Trooper PA. Interment will be at St. Joseph�s Cemetery in Waterford, NY at a time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations in Freidas� name may be sent to the charity of your choice. A memorial celebration of her life will be held at the Core Vistas Apartment at 10600 Cibola Loop NW, ABQ in the clubhouse on December 22nd from 2 to 4 pm.
