Gabino Griego

GRIEGO - Gabino Griego, age 73, beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 17, 2011. Gabino was a proud Veteran of the United States Army; he enjoyed sports and bingo. He coached boxing and was the owner and operator of Griego’s Boxing Club. He was preceded in death by two sons, Manuel and Fernando Griego; his parents, Agapita Tafoya and Manuel Griego; brother, Ricardo Tafoya. Gabino is survived by his sons, Phillip Griego and wife Annette, Ernest Griego; his grandchildren, Sylvia, Felicia, Phillip Jr., Matthew, Fernando and Leandra Griego; his great-granddaughter, Chloe Griego. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Alice Chavez and Marylou Zamora and husband Rupert; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gabino will be greatly missed by all. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Therese Church on Fourth and Mildred. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens. Honorary Bearers will be Jerry Chavez, Jr., Eugene Chavez, Phillip Griego, Jr., Matthew Griego, Fernando Griego, Jr., Paul Lopez, Andrew Cordova, and Jerry Chavez, III.
