Gail E Stokes

Stokes, Gail E. (Merritt) 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2014 in Socorro, NM. She was born in Buffalo, New York on April 5, 1943 to Stanley Alside and Helen Jane (Straub) Merritt. Gail was a Socorro resident for many years. She and her husband, Malcom, ran a group home in NY for 20 years before moving to NM. She adored children and always wanted to help the unfortunate. "Grandma Gail" and "Grandpa Mic" will always be remembered for their love they shared with others. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Malcolm M. Stokes; and friends, Morene and Jerry Manson. Gail is survived by her son, William John Stokes and his wife, Linda; her grandchildren, Jolene, Joshua, and Randy; two great grandchildren; her wonderful grandchildren in New York; and her dearest friends, Ana Mae and Nick Fleming. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1000 Goad, Socorro. Rueben Thomas officiating.
