Gary Riggs Taylor, known affectionately as "Super Gars", has bid farewell to this world, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. Born on August 23, 1938, Gary's journey on earth came to a peaceful end on February 13, 2024.
Gary was a man of many passions and roles in his life. His commitment to community service shone brightly through his involvement with Shriners and the Kiwanis club, where he selflessly dedicated his time to helping others. However, Gary's true joy stemmed from the moments spent with his beloved wife, Theresa Trujeque, whom he shared countless adventures with.
One of Gary's treasured memories was traveling with Theresa in their motor home, exploring the vast beauty of the country. He found immense happiness in reuniting with his brother and relished the time spent bonding with his grandchildren, Cyrus and Cassie. Gary's pockets were always filled with cookies for his grandchildren, much to their mother's chagrin, as they ventured together into the motor home, garden, and chicken coop.
A skilled craftsman, Gary found solace in creating family heirlooms in collaboration with his son Larry in their workshop. His knack for fixing things without the need for hardware store runs was truly admirable. The hours spent tinkering and building became cherished moments that will forever be remembered by those who knew him.
Those close to Gary remember him fondly for taking his nieces Priscilla and Tiffany on exciting excursions that enriched their lives significantly. His playful spirit and genuine nature left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In celebrating Gary's life, we remember a devoted husband, father, brother-in-law, and uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents Clova and John Taylor but leaves behind a loving family including his wife Theresa Trujeque; sons Larry Davis (Cari), Kevin Lucero; son Gary Taylor Jr.; brother Jack Taylor (Velda); sister Linda Duffield (John); sister-in-law Cathy Trujeque, brother-in-law and Lorenzo (Karen) Trujeque; brother-in-law Jose Pozzobon; numerous nieces and nephews; and grandchildren Clarissa, Cyrus, and Cassandra Davis.
A Memorial Service is scheduled to take place on February 28th at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Sara Road Chapel in Rio Rancho followed by a reception at 106 Kjersti Ct in Corrales. These occasions will serve as opportunities for all who knew Gary to come together and honor his memory. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the American Diabetes Association.
As we bid farewell to Gary Riggs Taylor, may we carry forward the love he shared so generously and continue to cherish the values he embodied. In our hearts forevermore, may his spirit rest peacefully among us.
