Geneva Trujillo

July 12, 1928 — February 24, 2015

Geneva Ernestine Trujillo
On February 24, 2015, Geneva Trujillo, age 86 years, peacefully surrendered her life to God.
Geneva was born in El Rito, New Mexico on July 12, 1928.  She and her husband, Seferino Trujillo, were married for 57 years and were long-time residents of Los Alamos, New Mexico and members of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She supported and believed in her children’s dreams. She also was an exceptional seamstress and baker. After all of her children were in high school, Geneva went to work. The job she loved most was her time at Safeway as a cashier (now Smith’s Food).  She enjoyed all of her fellow employees and valued their friendship, as well as that of her customers. Many of her customers would wait in a long grocery line just so they could be checked out by Geneva. Over time she was responsible for managing the flower department at the store - a job that brought her much happiness given her deep love of flowers and gardening.   When her husband Seferino retired, she retired too so they could begin traveling.  Many trips were made to Las Vegas and Hawaii. She was happy to have the freedom to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren-a role she cherished and for which she was deeply loved. All of the grandchildren have wonderful stories about the summers they spent with their beloved Grandmother and Grandfather. It also was during this time that she decided to go to college. She enrolled at the UNM branch in Los Alamos and took courses in Spanish, history, math, psychology and creative writing.
Her family would like her to be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a cherished friend; as well as for her courage and perseverance, her playful sense of humor, her wisdom, and her devout faith. Mom you will be missed and loved forever.
We wish to express our thanks to the staff at Sandia Springs (especially, Debra Mobley-Sadler and Stacey Laino), to Maria Forbess of Hospice Compassus, and to Karen Bigelow and Amy Vigil of Los Alamos National Bank.
She was preceded in death by her husband Seferino Trujillo, her son Ronald Trujillo, her granddaughter Doenika Lilienthal, and recently by her sister Annie Romero. She is survived by her children Joyce Langston (Doug Langston) of Salt Lake City, Utah; Jeanette Lilienthal of Santa Fe; and Lois Davis of Los Angeles, California. She also is survived by her sisters, Lugarda Griego and Eleanor Martinez (Tony); her brother Louis Baca (Orilia); and by five grandchildren (Katy, Jason, Christina, Ryan, and Amanda) and ten great-grandchildren.
