George Victor (Vic) Dawley

George Victor (Vic) Dawley, age 75, passed away on May 4, 2017 from complications due to a stroke.

Vic was born on July 25, 1941 in Chicago Heights, IL.  His family settled in Hamburg, NY when he was a toddler.  He was an avid swimmer and musician at Hamburg High School. Upon graduation, Vic briefly attended Clarkson College in upstate New York where he started the campus radio and played drums in several bands.  

Vic served his country in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He had a successful career as a computer service engineer in Buffalo, NY, Terre Haute, IN and in the Chicago area. Upon his retirement, he and his wife relocated to Albuquerque, NM to be closer to family.  He spent the first several years in NM driving a shuttle to and from the Santa Fe Opera.

Vic was an active member of Sister Cities International and Christ Lutheran Church.  He had a passion for mission work and was responsible for providing over 200 reconditioned computers to Africa and Mexico.   He spent many hours volunteering at the God Cares About You Mission in SE Albuquerque.

Vic will be especially remembered for his love of traveling, his musical talent, and his amazing sense of humor.

Vic is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn (Litke) Dawley; his daughter, Pamela (Dawley) Suazo, and her husband, Mark Suazo; his son, Sean Dawley; his 5 grandchildren, Kate, Ryan, and Anna Suazo and Duncan and Morgon Dawley, and his brother, Bob Dawley and his family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 27, 2017 at 11am at Christ Lutheran Church in Albuquerque, NM.
