George Franklin (“GF”) Perry Jr. beloved husband, father, family member, and friend, passed away on Thursday, October 31st at the age of 80.
George was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico on March 14, 1945 - the second of five children to Eunice Essie Blanton and George F. Perry Sr. He graduated from Valley High School where he met his future wife. They had an extended engagement due to the Vietnam draft.
George served his country with distinction, deployed as a Navy corpsman during the height of the Vietnam War. He later served in the New Mexico Naval Reserves. George married his high school sweetheart and soul mate Joyce Ann Tamura on Valentine’s Day of 1969. Joyce and GF were later blessed with two loving sons which brought them great pride and joy.
He graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Pharmacy. George was a dedicated and talented pharmacist for many years serving various communities throughout Albuquerque, Bernalillo, and Rio Rancho. Joyce was a dedicated and loving Albuquerque elementary school teacher for over 29 years, staying in touch with many of her students. She passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28th of 2015 at the much too young age of 68.
George F. Perry Jr. is survived by sons Seth and Aaron Perry; sisters Mary Hines (Larry), Nancy Stothart (Matt), and brother James Perry, as well as many extended family members. George’s life celebration memorial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday March 18th, 2025 at Daniels Family Funeral Services ~ 7601 Wyoming Blvd. N.E. A reception will follow.
A private family burial service for both Joyce and GF will be held at a later date at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
