George Petropoulos

Petropoulos, George Age 77, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012. He was born in Canton, OH on April 27, 1935. Beloved father, brother, uncle and friend. George lived most of his adult life in Albuquerque. He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and The Albuquerque Astronomical Society. George was a salesman, businessman and entrepreneur. He and his wife Dora owned and operated the Terminal Café. Most recently George worked as a Wal-Mart associate for over 15 years before retiring in 2011. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sophia, who was taken by the Lord in 1981 after a lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis, and his wife Dora, who went to be with our Lord in 2009. George is survived by his daughter Helen Petropoulos; brother Chris Petropoulos and wife Estephanie; sister Carol Margo and his nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will take place Friday, October 26, 2012 at Daniels Family Funeral Services- Strong-Thorne Chapel, 1100 Coal SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106 beginning at 6:00 pm with the Trisagion to be prayed at 7:00 pm. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at 2:00 pm at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 308 High Street SE, Albuquerque, NM 87102, with Father Conan Gill officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Memorial Park following the mass. Beginning at 4:30 pm, there will be a reception held at Jinan Performing Arts Studio, 6614 Gulton Court NE (in Parkway Center), Albuquerque, NM 87109 near Jefferson and Osuna. Pallbearers will be Kevin Hurst, Scott Eddings, Frank Argyres, George Petropoulos, Nick Pavlakos and Dave Hancock. Honorary pallbearer is Steven Hurst. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or to a charity of your choice.
