Vineyard, Gerald Patrick "Pat"
Gerald Patrick Vineyard, born February 24, 1943 to John and Pearl Vineyard of Clovis, NM, passed away October 24, 2015 at home with his family. Known as Pat to anyone that knew of him, he had a very full life, with a jack-of-all-trades tool belt. After obtaining his GED, he went into the service for four years, creating plenty of stories that he would later fill his children and grandchildren's ears with, to many giggles. After discharging from the military, he went on to work for John Deere, beginning a long string of mechanical-based jobs that he loved. He married Sarah Burdine in 1960, with two children to follow, Stephen Vineyard and Patricia (Trish) Vineyard. Steve went on to marry and have two children of his own, Jason and Amanda, both now grown and with children of their own. Steve passed away in 1997. Trish went on to get married and has a son, Travis, who also now has children of his own.Pat moved on to be a police officer for 12 years in Alamogordo, during which time he married Mary Rose Vineyard, and had two more children, Kenneth and Aimee Vineyard. Kenneth is now married and has a house full of fur babies, and Aimee is married with two children of her own, Micah and Kaylani. Pat and Rose were married for a wonderful 42 years, filled with happiness, travel and family. After a work injury in 2004 forced him into early retirement, he affectionately became known as Mr. Mom - he took care of the house, made all of the food that we liked the best, and in later years, kept his beloved grand babies during the day hours. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he often joked that when his sister, Coleta Lary, called him, he must be pretty boring to talk to, because all he talked about was the kids. Pat is survived by his siblings: Shirley Dwyer, Las Cruces, NM, Coleta Lary, Dean and Ronald Vineyard, all of Melrose, New Mexico; his brother-in-law Charlie Marquez of McCamey, Texas and Dorothy Marquez of Salina, Kansas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Pat Vineyard lived a full life that many would envy, and will leave some fantastic memories with his family. He will continue to be loved, and will be very missed. To view information or leave a condolence, please visit www.danielsfuneral.com
