Geraldine (Gerry) Catherine Voda

Geraldine (Gerry) Catherine Voda, aged 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She was born on December 8, 1933, in Syracuse, New York to the late Donald Cornelius Pauls and Harriet Genevieve Sitnik Pauls. Gerry married the love of her life, Rudolph Stephen Voda on May 26, 1956, in Syracuse.
 
 She graduated from Eastwood High School in Syracuse, NY.  Throughout her life, Gerry experienced various roles including being a Comptometer Operator and Special Education Assistant before transitioning to becoming a devoted homemaker. During this period, she also found time to teach religious education.  She found joy in playing bridge, bingo, visiting casinos, dancing, and eating good food (especially savoring vanilla ice cream).   Above all else Gerry cherished spending time with her family finding joy and humor in everyday moments.

 A devout member of the Catholic Church for her lifetime, Gerry actively participated at Curé of Ars Catholic Church in Leawood, Kansas for many years.
  
Gerry is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Rudolph Voda; her daughter Christine Nash; her parents Donald and Harriet Pauls; as well as her son-in-law Bobby Gomez. 
 
 She leaves behind a legacy of love survived by her daughter, Brenda Gomez of Rio Rancho; daughter, Karen Voda of Fairfax, VA; son-in-law, John Nash of Kansas City, KS; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Richard Boullosa of Glendale, AZ; grandchildren, Amy Haarer (Tavier) of Kansas City, MO, Roberto Gomez (Danelle) of Los Lunas, NM, Casey Gomez, Katy Houska, and Jennifer Gomez-Tedford (Derek) of Albuquerque, NM, James Houska (Angela) of Fairfax, VA; great-grandchildren, Rosalie Haarer of Kansas City, MO, Maya Gomez of Los Lunas, NM, Alexis Houska of Albuquerque, NM and Kayla & Natalie Houska of Fairfax, VA; nephew, Christopher Boullosa of Phoenix; as well as her special pets Foxy and Patches (both deceased).

 
The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff at Avamere Assisted Living and Pace Innovage for their compassion towards Grandma Gerry.
 
 A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 9:30 AM on March 22, 2024 at San Ysidro Catholic Church in Corrales, followed by the Recitation of the Rosary at 9:30 AM. Mass will commence at 10:00 AM on Friday at the same venue. A reception will take place at Avamere Assisted Living at 1:30 PM, 1000 Riverview Rd, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.  Gerry will be laid to rest at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas.
