Age 57, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at his home in Socorro, NM after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Socorro, NM on August 1, 1957, to Aristeo and Tommie Valenzuela Gonzales. Gilbert was a lifelong resident of Socorro.  He was preceded in death by his mother, and his father-in-law, Richard Chavez.  Gilbert is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathy Chavez Gonzales; father, Aristeo Gonzales, sons, Gilbert Michael Gonzales, Jr. and his wife , Adela, and Peter Gonzales and his wife, Diana; sisters, Frances Howard and husband, JD, Lupe Thorn, Gloria Friday and husband, Larry, and Theresa Chavez and husband, Joe Ray; brothers, Larry Gonzales and wife, JoAnn, Aristeo Gonzales, Jr. and wife, Lesa, and Arthur Gonzales and wife, Cindy; mother-in-law, Ruth Chavez; grandchildren, Peter Gonzales, Jr., Jakob Gonzales, Jaylin Gonzales, Jeremiah Lujan, and Bobby Benavidez; and many nieces and nephews. Gilbert was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather. He was an extremely hard working man and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. We will always remember him as a prankster and a great friend.  Services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015, 10:00 am, at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Socorro Chapel, 309 Garfield St, Socorro with Pastor Carlos Chavez officiating. Interment to follow at Socorro Cemetery. Pallbearers are Larry Gonzales, Aristeo Gonzales Jr., Arthur Gonzales, Larry Friday, Louis Armijo, Joe Ray Chavez. Gilbert's care has been entrusted to
