53, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at his home in Albuquerque, NM. He was born in Socorro, NM on July 22, 1961 to Patricio Jr. and Rebecca (Soto) Hidalgo. Gilbert was a lifelong resident of Socorro and also owned a home in Albuquerque with his son, Nicholas. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He loved to joke and always had a way of making people laugh. Gilbert was a kind and giving man. He would give the shirt of his back for anyone. When, he was younger he enjoyed riding horses with his brother and sister. Gilbert loved to ride bikes and dreamed of one day owning his own Harley. He was recently rebuilding a dirt bike, and although some tasks must stay unfinished we know that his love for his family and friends will remain with us forever. Gilbert's prize possessions were his kids and grandkids and he will never be forgotten. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents. Gilbert is survived by his loving daughters, Rebecca Hidalgo; and Courtney Hidalgo; his devoted sons, Gilbert Hidalgo Jr.; and Nicholas Hidalgo and wife, Jessica; his brother, Eddie Hidalgo; his sister, Irene Hidalgo; and many other loving family members and close friends. Gilbert will also be greatly missed by Trini Otero, whom raised him and his siblings; and his grandchildren, Sierra; Symone; Bryce; Neveah; Nicholas Jr. and one grand baby on the way. The Holy Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 9:30am at the San Miguel Catholic church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro followed by a Communion Service beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will be held in the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers are Nicholas Hidalgo, David Hidalgo, Nick Rivera, Jason Soto, Chris Hidalgo Sr., Edmundo Soto, Frank McCutcheon, and Ronnie Baca.
