Gilbert H. Martinez

Martinez, Gilbert H. Age 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 28, 2013. He was born in Corrales, NM on July 10, 1926, to Melquides and Candia Hernandez. Gilbert obtained the Korean Service Medal, U. N. Medal, 5 Bronze Service Medals and went on to obtain the Presidential Service Merit. He enjoyed listening to country music. George Jones was his all-time favorite musician. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melquides and Candia Hernandez; siblings Dave, Cecilia and Beatrice. Gilbert is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patsy Mary Martinez; his children, Alex, Candy, Lucy, Ben, Clara, Jerry, and Albert Montoya; 40 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and his sister Eloisa. Gilbert will be greatly missed by all. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 9502 Fourth Street NW, where the Service of Christian Burial will follow at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be at San Carlos Cemetery.
