PADILLA -- Gilbert F. Padilla, 67, was born on December 8, 1941 and raised in Albuquerque. He was called to heaven Saturday, February 28, 2009 surrounded by his loving family and friends at the Presbyterian Hospital. Gil is survived by his wife; Marjorie (Marge), children; Lucinda (Cindy), Holly, Deborah (Debbie), and Dominic, nine grandchildren; his brothers; Arthur, David and wife Shelley, sisters; Joanne, Clara and husband Neil, Barbara, and Antoinette (Toni) and husband Ron. He is preceded in death by his parents; Raymond and Irene and sister; Theresa. Gil served his country as a part of the Marine Corp Reserve. Early on, he volunteered his time as a juvenile probation officer for the city. For nearly 30 years of his life, Gil enjoyed running the family-owned concession stand, the Original Breakfast Burrito, during the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. Working as a master machinist for most of his life, Gil served his apprenticeship at Sandia National Laboratories. He applied his machinist skills to various companies, including New Mexico Precision which he owned and operated for many years. Most recently, he held the title of Machine Shop Supervisor for the EMRTC at New Mexico Tech in Socorro, NM. Gil and Marge were also two of the original contributors and participants of the Marriage Enrichment Program. Loved by all who met or knew him, Gil's compassion held no exceptions and reached everyone who entered his life. His caring nature inspired all around him to better their lives. Gil was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and son. He was his family and friends' teacher, inspiration, and source of strength. He will be missed and remembered for many years to come. Gil's family wishes to thank everyone for their support and prayers during this difficult time.
