Gladys Lucero passed away on February 5, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of 76.
She found great joy in spending time with her family, visiting the casino, and participating in church activities. She was especially fond of bingo at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and took pride in being part of the 325-year-old tradition of Fiesta de San Lorenzo, celebrated each August.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzo Lucero, father, Leopoldo "Polo" Baca; her mother, Victoria "Tana" Baca; her brothers, Leo Baca and Donald Baca; her son, Lawrence Lucero; and her sisters, Carmen Chavez, Theresa Leaton, and Merlin Lucero.
She is survived by her daughter, Bernadette Valdez; her sons, Rick Lucero, and Robert Lucero; her sister, Connie Gabaldon; three granddaughters: Cynthia Gallegos (husband Adrian), Jennifer Valdez, Ashley Lucero (fiancé Orlando Montano), and great-granddaughters; Nevaeh Montano, Arcelie Montano, and Elliana Gallegos. Gladys also had three cherished pets—Glitter, Chica, and Peewee—who brought her much happiness.
Her family sincerely appreciates all the support, prayers, and kindness extended during this time. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.
Services will begin with Recitation of the Rosary, Tuesday, February 25, 2025, 6:30 PM, Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 301 S. Camino Del Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM 87004. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, February 26, 2025, 10:00 AM, Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 301 S. Camino Del Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM 87004, followed by burial at 1:00 PM, Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM 87501.
