Gloria Ortiz

Our beloved mom and grandma at the age of 89, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Gloria was born on April 5, 1934 in Coruco, New Mexico. At age 17, she met and married her husband George Ortiz, in San Miguel, New Mexico. Their marriage was blessed with three sons.

She was a stay at home mother, her hobbies consisted of keeping her home clean and attending her ceramics class three days a week, every week for more than 40 years. She loved gifting her ceramics to her friends and family. She was a member of San Jose Parish for many years where she enjoyed singing in the choir with her friends. On many occasions her singing would always carry over to family gatherings and parties.

The family would especially like to thank Rose, her caregiver for over 4 years and now a lifetime friend, Veronica from Hospice of New Mexico. You both were heaven sent. And lastly the staff at Spanish trails facility, thank you to all who was involved for the care of our mom.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents Lorenzo and Menegilda Chavez, her siblings, Frank Chavez, Cisto Chavez, Della (Chavez), Enrigueta "Cata" (Chavez), Irma Foamer, Margaret Sena, Annie Gallegos, Rosie Chavez, Fred Sena, Manuel Sena, Antonio Sena, Ignacio Sena, Maria Griego, her husband of 48 years, George Ortiz, and her son George Ortiz Jr.

She is survived by her sons Charles Ortiz and wife Jeanette, Glen Ortiz and wife Vicky, her grandchildren Neil, Jennifer, Christopher, George III, Nicholas, Jonathan, and 11 great grandchildren, her sisters, Elsie Rodriguez and Isabel Cisneros, and brother Joe Chavez and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at St Jude Thaddeus Church, 5712 Paradise Boulevard NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114, a Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:15 AM.

Reception will be held following at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish hall.
