Gordon L. Belcher, 89, of Aztec, passed away Monday, November 23, 2009 at the Four Corners Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Aztec. He was born February 17, 1920 in Madisonville, TN to Auther T. and Virginia Isbill Belcher. Gordon attended Alcoa High School. He joined the army and served in Europe in World War II. He served 4 years and 3 months. He married Nancy Lewallen in 1947 at Chatsworth, GA. They were married for 62 years. Gordon worked for Ormet Corp. for 27 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, MidIsland and Greene County Beagle Club. He loved to golf, hunt, and raising champion beagles. Gordon had been living at the Signature Health Care for 17 years until July of 2009 when his son Stephen and wife Kathy brought him and Nancy down to Aztec, NM to be closer to them. He is survived by his wife, Nancy L.; sons, Stephen S. (Kathy J.) Belcher, and Micheal G. Belcher; brother, Gerald B. (Diane) Belcher; grandchildren, January Nuanez, Tiffany Ferguson, Christopher Padgett, Geoffrey Thompson, Daisha Vaughn, Cherrish Skeen, Jessica Belcher, and Kayla Belcher; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
