Gordon H. Karcher, age 72, passed away in Rio Rancho, NM, on October 16, 2020.
With a natural ability to fix anything that had a motor on it, Gordon spent most of his work life as an auto mechanic in Farmington, New Mexico. After retiring, Jean and Gordon spent 2 years on the road, full-time RVing. Gordon, being a homebody, was ready after 2 years to settle in Rio Rancho. Gordon spent the rest of his retirement as a part-time mechanic and Grandpa.
Gordon loved to make his grandkids laugh and to tell stories of the past. In his later years, you could find him sitting and visiting with friends at work or driving his grandkids wherever they wanted to go. One of his last stories was about a recent visit to Wal-Mart, where he found the motorized wheelchair was too slow. Always the mechanic, he wanted to bring it home to put a faster motor in it!
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Gail and Herbert Karcher, and his brother, Bruce Karcher. He is survived by his loving wife Jean (Bartlett) Karcher, sister and brother-law, Gail and Doug Daehlin, son Shon Karcher and daughter-in-law Shelley Karcher, daughter Jada Plotner and son-in-law Will Plotner, Jr., and grandchildren Brytani Powell, Aeron Karcher, Tommy Karcher, Betty Lou Plotner, Sarah Plotner and John Plotner.
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, there will be no services. The family would like to give thanks for the prayers, thoughts and shared stories of Gordon.
