Grady W. Thompson died in his home in Albuquerque, NM on March 7, 2017. He was born September 27, 1925 in La Junta, CO to Richard and Jewel Thompson. He was an extraordinary man who loved his family immensely. Grady proudly served in the US Navy during WW II. In 1963 he started a successful business, Thompson Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc., which remains in the family today. After retirement in 1983, he and his wife, Lois, hit the road in their motorhome. They traveled from coast to coast, often taking grandchildren along with them. They moved to Sun City West, AZ in 1992, where he was able to play golf daily and had time to enjoy his hobbies, ranging from woodwork to stained glass. He lived out his final years in Albuquerque.
Mr. Thompson will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lois Thompson; sister Dixie and husband Bob Bradfield of Denver; his children Dan (Kathie); Gary (Carla); Karen Pieper (Paul); grandchildren Deedra Johnson (Jamie), Brett (Stefanie), Eric (Liana), Julie Moritz (Daniel), and Alison Le Cavalier; and great grandchildren Alexa, Danni, Ellen, Jacob, Jagger and Owen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Laura Thompson-Tafoya.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Home Care Assistance for all their loving care of Grady.
A graveside service will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE, on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 11:00 am, followed by a reception from 12:00pm to 2:00 pm at Daniels Family Funeral Services Wyoming Sun Room Reception Center.
