Thornton, Gwendolene V. age 97 of Los Lunas, NM formerly of Albuquerque passed away Wednesday April 20, 2011, Mrs. Thornton was born on February 7, 1914 in Jane, Missouri to Clarence A. and Kate L (Buttram) Cleveland, Surviving are her daughters: Vena Haller and her husband Raymond,of Grand Junction, CO, Helen Holt and her husband Bud of Los Lunas and Mary Higgins of Minneloa, Fl., Nine Grandchildren, Chris Holt, Randy (Sharon) Holt, Shari (Chris) Lyon, Scott (Terri) Holt, Bonnie (Bruce) Hausknecht, Lonnie Hanzon, Becky Noll, Jean (John) Quintana and Charlotte (Lance) Westing. Fifteen Grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jason, Angelo, Adam, Elliott, Shalen, Ashlen, Lindsay, David, Jonathan, Heather, Tiffany, Jennifer, Alex and Brendan, Three Great Grandchildren, Maxine, Jaxon and Riley. Her Cousin, Wilma Wilson. Mrs. Thornton was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Frank B. Thornton on November 19, 1999 and her brother Arley Cleveland. Mrs. Thornton was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church of Albuquerque where she was formerly active with many church functions, including the W.M.S, a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendant, and the church prayer groups. Graveside services will be held 9:00am Monday April 25, 2011 at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd., SE, Albuquerque, NM.
