Harold served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 and fought in the Korean War. He returned home and worked for ICX Freight for 25 years. A hard worker that held many hats and talents, Harold also built custom homes until the age of 72 and was known to have an amazing gift for gardening where you could always count on a bottle of his home-made wine from his grapes that packed quite a punch! Harold coached his sons at North Valley Little League until he was recruited to help run Babe Ruth Little League where he then traveled with his sons as they continued to win tournaments. Harold continued to support his children in all of their sports all through High School and then continued to support his grandchildren as he traveled and attended all of their events. A generous man, Harold would often be found buying equipment for kids that didn't have the means along with picking them up to and from games and practice.

Harold shared 60 years of marriage with the love of his life Viola. It was during that time that they both created an incredible love story built on family, friends, life long memories and GOOD times. Their adventures took them to places like Las Vegas and Laughlin, camping and fishing all over the southwest and beyond, enjoying memorable cruises to Mexico and Alaska with friends and family and attending sporting events all over the state. Harold was a constant joker and king of the one-liners often irritating Vi, but always brought smiles to everyone around him because it was he himself that was a beacon of happiness that never complained, was always happy and never missed an opportunity to make people laugh and smile. An amazingly entertaining couple, Harold and his bride were well known for their dancing abilities as they reigned as the undisputed polka champions often leaving party-goers dazzled. Harold loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with a love like no other that was demonstrated daily in the way he treated them. His family was his pride and joy and he always made sure that they knew it in everything he did. A life truly well lived, he will be dearly missed, but the lasting memories of this amazing man will resonate for generations in his family and the lives that he touched.
