Harold Lavale Williams

July 6, 1947 — October 25, 2009

Harold Lavale Williams was born on July 6, 1947, to the proud parents of Eugene and Helen Williams. The third of eleven siblings, Harold was adored by his parents, brothers, sisters and friends. As a child, Harold suffered from a severe asthmatic condition; nevertheless, he, along with his brothers, went to church every Sunday and at an early age, he began to work to earn money. He sold newspapers on the streets of Charleston, South Carolina when he was only eight years old. When Harold was nine years old, his stepfather was reassigned by the US Navy and the family moved from Charleston to Norfolk, Virginia. At age 13, the family moved again, this time to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After graduating from West Catholic Boys High Scholl in 1965, he joined the US Navy. He remained in the Navy for a period of six years and served on surface ships during the Vietnam War as a Fire Control Technician, reaching the rank of Second Class Petty Officer (E-5) before receiving an Honorable discharge. After leaving the service, Harold transferred to Alameda County, California. He later trained and worked as a Cisco computer technician. He eventually met and married Dawn. They were later relocated to New Mexico by his employer, Qualxserv Technical Services. Harold was with the love of his life when God called him home on Sunday, October 25, 2009. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Dawn Davis-Williams; two daughters, Whitney and Malaysia; one son, Keith; four brothers, Clarence Williams (Emilia). Jewett Nance, Malcolm Nance (Maurice), Robert Nance; three sisters, Jewette Doumbia, Helen Avilla (Juan). And Gloria Nance Williams; brother-in-law Darren Autrey (Melanie), mother-in-law, Claudette Autrey, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and friends.
