BODO- BODO- Harriett "Bea" Bodo passed away at home Monday, March 30, 2009. She was 92 having celebrated her birthday on March 12th. She was born in Marvel, CO to Hugh and Maude Rowe. She grew up in Durango, CO and graduated from Durango High School in 1934. She then enrolled in the Lighthouse of International Foursquare Evangelism in Los Angeles. In March 1935, she was baptized by Aimee Semple McPherson and graduated in June 1936. She was given credentials as a licensed preacher and teacher under provisions of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, Inc. She returned to Durango upon graduation and, on January 10, 1937, married Vernon I. Bodo. The family lived in Durango until 1955 when they moved to Albuquerque. Both the Bodo and Rowe families were pioneers in the sport of skiing in the Durango area and Bea continued skiing into her 70's. In addition to skiing, she loved bridge and played regularly until her death. She served as a greeter for her church, Heights First Church of the Nazarene, for over 20 years and was a poll worker on elections for 50 years. Her loving and giving nature moved all who were privileged to know her and, as the family matriarch, her wisdom and guidance will be missed. She is survived by a brother, Lee Rowe of Wenatchee, WA, a sister Ione Stephenson of Salt Lake City, UT, two sons Randy, Ron and wife Carroll of Albuquerque and a daughter Kristen Smith of Aliso Viejo, CA; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
