Harry C. Olson Jr.

December 29, 1923 — January 7, 2017

Harry C. Olson, Jr., 93, passed peacefully in his sleep at his Albuquerque home Saturday January 7th, 2017.  Harry, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend, was known for his good nature, positive attitude and kindness. He was born on December 29, 1923 in Munising, MI, where he spent his youth. He was honored to serve his Country in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He met his wife Ann in 1944, married in 1947, and they had a beautiful marriage of 69 years. Harry graduated from Michigan Tech University, moved to Albuquerque in 1953, where he worked for Sandia National Laboratory until retirement. There upon he spent 3 years building their summer cottage with the help of his nephew Jack McCullum and many other family and friends. After completion, Harry and Ann spent 25 summers enjoying their cottage on beautiful Mirror Lake in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Harry has been a member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church since 1953, where in his younger days helped with many activities, ushering, maintaining the grounds, etc.  Harry loved being outdoors working in his garden, golfing, fishing, hunting and having his evening cocktail on the porch.
Harry is survived by his Wife Ann, Daughter Barbara Alcala, Son-in-Law Mark Alcala, and Granddaughter Carrie Ellis. He was preceded by his Son Alan Brad Olson.
Services will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, January 17, 2017 at 10:30 am, followed by a Celebration of Life Reception, 4pm at Manzano Del Sol Village.
