Hasbah Silago

June 1, 1918 — January 22, 2011

Hasbah Silago was born into the Salt People Clan for the Black Streak People Clan. Silago was a homemaker and rancher. She was well known for making Navajo cake. She loved cooking, herding sheep and enjoyed being with her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters, Grace Becenti of Fremont, Calif., Mary Jean John of Mariano Lake; eight grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. Silago was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Silago; parents, Biznasbah Sky, Tom Sky; two grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Benson J. Tom, Colbie Wheeler, Brian A. Sloan, Jameson R. Bennett, William Bennett Sr., Emerson Thomas. The family will receive relatives and friends at Mariano Lake Chapter House, following services. Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
