Helen M. Finch, age 93, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016. She was beloved by all who knew her and were touched by her warmth and compassion. She was born in Faribault, MN on September 23, 1922, to Harry and Mabel Holman. She lived much of her life in San Jose, California, where she raised her family. She moved to Albuquerque in 2000 to live closer to her daughter and her family.
Helen is survived by daughter, Deborah Finch of Albuquerque, NM, and son; Mark Finch of Anacortes, WA. They loved and cherished her dearly and could not have asked for a more wonderful mother. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Mitch, Lisa, Nelly, Kate, and Amanda who she influenced greatly and loved with all her heart. She also is survived by two great grandchildren; Ashlee, and Kyra, of whom she was incredibly proud. She was the last surviving sibling out of 4 brothers and 5 sisters, and was preceded in death by her son Donald Finch.
Helen was rarely idle. She loved ceramics, bowling, reading, travel, and visiting with and writing to family and friends. She was in a bible study group at Faith Lutheran Church as well as being an active member of the church community. Helen continued as a member and officer of Beta Sigma Phi for over 50 years, and of Eastern Star in California. Helen loved to give back to her community by volunteering at public libraries and convention centers. She loved to support wildlife conservation, animal, children, and breast cancer research charities. She was exceptionally kind hearted and always gave generously. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity close to your heart.
