Helen I. Garcia

Helen I. Garcia, age 74, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully at her home, Saturday, March 1, 2014, while surrounded by her loving family. She was a resident of Albuquerque, and spent much time in California. Helen enjoyed bowling and was in many bowling leagues over the years; she liked playing bingo; and left many wonderful memories of camping and fishing trips with her family and many friends. Helen was a great cook, and loved her family dearly, especially her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen was also past President of AMVETS (American Veterans) Auxiliary Post #113 in Irwindale, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Lopez and James S. Clarke; and her pet dog, LoLo. Helen is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Mauro Garcia of the family home; her wonderful daughter, Melinda Boyer and husband Don of Whittier, CA; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Marie Arellano and husband Edward of Albuquerque; her brother Paul "WaWa" Clarke also of Albuquerque; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Helen will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those whose hearts she touched. Local services were conducted Friday, March 7, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, in El Monte, CA.
