Helen Mary Janssen

Helen Mary Janssen passed away peacefully just shy of her 99th birthday on July 29, 2024, at her home of nearly 70 years in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She was born Maria Helena Martinez in Dawson, New Mexico, to Margarita Baca Martinez and Roberto Martinez. Helen grew up there and graduated from Dawson High School. In Santa Fe she married her husband of 55 years, George Janssen, and then moved to Albuquerque where they raised three children. Helen worked at the Social Security Administration for 17 years. She is survived by son Mike and wife Linda; daughter Sandy and husband Philip Cook; son Mark; and granddaughters Laurel and Alex Cook.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, daughter, Becky, and husband, George. She will be buried beside him at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be held at The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, Santa Fe, New Mexico, at 11:00 AM on August 20, 2024. Burial will follow.
