Helen Padilla

Padilla, Helen Loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend went home to be with our Lord and Savior Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the age of 89. She was born in Socorro, NM to Frank and Rita Nunez. Helen adored her family and loved spending time with them. She enjoyed volunteering at the Senior Center and making jewelry. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 71 years, Joe Padilla who passed last year; children, Edna Chavez and Richard Padilla. Helen is survived by her loving children, Rita Chavez and husband Ray, Joe Padilla and wife Grace, Jerry Padilla, Robert Padilla and wife Susie, Christine Romero and husband Jerry; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews; extended family and friends. A Visitation will take place at Garcia Mortuary in the Chapel of Angels on Friday, September 14, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm followed by a reciting of the Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 301 Stover Ave. SW on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers are Charles Chavez, Gavin Chavez, Jerry Romero, Ted Padilla, Carl Romero and Andrew Ortiz. The family wishes to extend as special thank you to Vista Care Hospice and Helen's nurses, Barbara, Kryshia and Darlene for their wonderful care. Helen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
