Helen Annette Ray, age 97, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She was born June 17, 1920, in Council, Georgia, to Thomas and Sarah (Thomas) Ray. Annette grew up in Cedar Key, Florida and graduated from Cedar Key School. She received her library science degree from Florida State University and was a U.S. Army civil servant, head librarian. She spent most of her career overseas in South Korea, Japan and Vietnam. She retired at Fort Polk in Louisiana. After retiring in 1972, she made Leesville, Louisiana her home.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Thomas and Sarah Ray; brothers, Thomas Jr. Curtis and Ira Ray and her sister Clara Silas. Annette is survived by her only nephew James Lumley and his wife Barbara of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; great nephew David Lumley and Michael Wood; great niece Michele Wood; a handful of great-great nieces and nephews, and a few cousins.
Annette loved the Lord. She was a very giving and loving woman. She will be dearly missed.
Annette will be buried in Jacksonville, Florida at the Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at Daniels Funeral Services at 2400 Southern Blvd, Rio Rancho, NM on Monday, March 12, 2018 from 1:00-2:00
