Salvo, Helen Ann Pisano
Age 93, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016 at her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was born on December 11, 1922 in Pittston, PA and lived most of her life in Connecticut. A devout and pious Catholic, Helen lived each day in anticipation of joining her Lord and Savior in the afterlife.

Despite growing up in rural Pennsylvania with the expectation that she would go to work in one of the businesses in town upon graduation, she applied to a nursing school in New York City and became a Registered Nurse. She worked as a nurse for several years before having her daughters, and when they entered middle school she began a second career as a librarian until her retirement, where she was able to share her love of reading with others. A loving and spiritual woman, Helen devoted herself to her family, including fostering children early in her marriage and raising her grandson, Nicholas. She was married to her husband, Charles Salvo, for 61 years until his death in 2009.

She is survived by her daughter, Marietta Salvo Hoodless; her grandchildren Elizabeth Hoodless Williams (Jeremy), Michael Hoodless (Bridget), and Nicholas Siciliano (Maria); her great-grandchildren Rory, Marin, and Mirabel Williams, and Matthew and Natalie Siciliano; her brother Ralph Pisano; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nicola Pisano and Maria Angela De Nunzio Pisano; her sisters Mary Pisano Cardoni and Rita Pisano; her brother Phillip Pisano; her brother-in-law John Cardoni; her sisters-in-law Ann Pisano and Jody Pisano; her daughter Marcina Salvo Siciliano; her grandson Gary Hoodless II; and her son-in-law Gary Hoodless I.

Visitation will be Monday, October 10 at 5:00 PM in the Sara Road Chapel, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho. Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 11 at 9:00 AM at Aquinas Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas Road NE, Albuquerque.
