Townes, Helen M.
Age 94, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015. She was born in Canyon City, Colorado on June 4, 1921. She grew up during the great depression and learned at an early age the value of self-reliance, frugality and resourcefulness. She did her best to instill those values in her children.
She was a life-long homemaker and took great pride in providing a comfortable, clean and cozy home for her family. She was an excellent cook, accomplished seamstress and a long time member of the Blue Bells Garden Club. She meticulously planted and maintained gardens in each family home. She took great pride in achieving the "Master Gardener" designation.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Billy Ernest Townes; son Gerald, daughter Crystal, and great grandson, Cody Scott. Helen is survived by her sons, Ron Townes, Timothy Townes (Kathleen) and Andrew Townes (Rhonda); daughter, Stephanie Adams; her dearly beloved cousin Paul Youngblood; grandchildren, Robyn Adams, Allison Goodman (Jeremy), DeeLynn Ybarra (Glenn), Drew Townes, Ron Townes Jr.(Jolene), Rhonda Ackerman; great-grandchildren, Jonah Adams and Jakob Goodman.
Our mom warmed the hearts of her family and friends with kindness and humility. Her generosity and loving spirit will not be forgotten.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 11:00 am, Covenant United Methodist Church, 8510 Wyoming Blvd NE. Pastor Vernon Baker officiating.
