Hilda Lockwood

LOCKWOOD - Hilda F. Lockwood, age 97, passed away peacefully at the Las Palomas Care and Rehabilitation Center on November 16, 2009 in Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by nieces and nephews in Ohio, Colorado, New Mexico, and Dubai (U.A.E.). Hilda was preceded in death by her husband Fred B. Lockwood, her sister Naomi, her brother Orville, and her sister Irene. Hilda was born June 20, 1912, the daughter of John and Bertha Kerstetter, in West Cameron Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. After high school, Hilda worked as a secretary for the Otis Elevator Company in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In Harrisburg, she cherished caring for her beautiful rose garden. In 1960, Hilda and her husband Fred moved to Hialeah, Florida, where she worked many years for the State of Florida. In Florida, Hilda greatly enjoyed being an active member of the Order of Eastern Star and Nahum Temple Daughters of the Nile, Masonic fraternal organizations. Hilda moved to New Mexico in 2001 to live closer to her family. She was an outgoing, kind woman who made many friends wherever she lived. She is deeply missed by family and friends for her thoughtfulness and sweetness.
